WRECK OF TIME ANNOUNCES FIRST TWO SINGLES FROM UPCOMING ALBUM MIND SLUDGE

“One Way Street” arrives September 15, followed by “Seventh Day” on October 7 — both featuring legendary Brazilian bassist Luís Mariutti

Progressive metal band Wreck of Time has announced the release dates for the first two singles from its upcoming full-length album, Mind Sludge, marking the beginning of a new chapter for the Brazilian-American group.

The first single, “One Way Street,” will be released on September 15, 2026, followed by “Seventh Day” on October 7, 2026. Both tracks feature a special guest appearance by renowned Brazilian bassist Luís Mariutti, known for his work with Angra and Shaman.

Both singles will be accompanied by official music videos, offering the first look and listen at the newly reimagined Mind Sludge.

Although Mind Sludge is Wreck of Time’s newest release, its story reaches all the way back to the beginning of the band.

Originally intended to be the band’s debut album, Mind Sludge was recorded during Wreck of Time’s early years, before the group relocated from Brazil to the United States. Due to circumstances surrounding the original production and release, the album never received the proper release—or the sound—the band had envisioned for it.

Rather than simply remastering or remixing the original recordings, the band chose to completely re-record and produce Mind Sludge, giving the songs the performances, production, and sonic identity they were always meant to have.

The new album was produced and mixed by Wreck of Time founder Rafael Macedo, who oversaw the project with the goal of finally bringing the original vision for Mind Sludge to life.

For the final stage of the album’s production, Wreck of Time enlisted acclaimed mastering engineer Tony Lindgren of Fascination Street Studios in Sweden. Lindgren has built an extensive mastering résumé that includes artists such as Opeth, Dimmu Borgir, Powerwolf, Leprous, Soilwork, Between the Buried and Me, and James LaBrie of Dream Theater, among many others.

For Macedo—Wreck of Time’s vocalist, guitarist, songwriter, and producer—returning to Mind Sludge also became an opportunity to finally complete an important unfinished chapter in the band’s history.

“Mind Sludge was supposed to be our first album, but for many reasons, it never became what we wanted it to be. These songs have stayed with us for more than two decades, and going back to them now gave us the opportunity to finally create the album we always heard in our heads. Producing and mixing the record myself also allowed me to take these songs all the way to the sound I had envisioned for them. This isn’t just a remaster or a re-release—we went back and rebuilt everything. In many ways, it feels like closing a chapter while also starting a completely new one.”

The collaboration with Luís Mariutti adds another dimension to that story. One of the most recognizable bassists from Brazil’s metal scene, Mariutti recorded bass for both “One Way Street” and “Seventh Day,” bringing his distinctive playing to two of the album’s key tracks.

The two singles will lead into the release of the full-length Mind Sludge, currently scheduled for late October 2026, with the official album release date to be announced soon.
